Online Pomodoro Timer — Focus & Break Cycles

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method: work in focused blocks, take short breaks, and repeat. After several focus sessions, take a longer break before starting the next round. onetimer runs this rhythm in your browser — no install, no account.

Classic timing is 25 minutes of Focus, 5 minutes of Short break, and 15 minutes of Long break after four focus sessions. You can change every phase length, auto-start behavior, sounds, and optional background audio in Settings.

Add tasks with Pomodoro estimates to track progress through your day, or run without tasks when you only need the timer. Session state and settings are saved in your browser so you can return later.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Pomodoro Technique?
Work in timed Focus sessions separated by breaks. One completed Focus block is one pomodoro. After a set number of pomodoros (default four), take a Long break before the next round. Short breaks keep you from burning out; the long break helps you reset.
Is this Pomodoro timer free?
Yes. All Pomodoro features — phase timing, task list, sounds, and ambient audio — are free with no subscription.
Can I change focus and break durations?
Yes. Open Settings from the navigation gear icon to adjust Focus, Short break, Long break, pomodoros until long break, and auto-start toggles. Changes apply when you click OK.
Do I need to add tasks?
No. Pomodoro runs in no-task mode by default. Tasks are optional — use them when you want per-task Pomodoro estimates and progress tracking.
How is Pomodoro different from the countdown Timer?
The Timer module counts down a single duration once. Pomodoro alternates Focus and break phases in a repeating cycle with optional long breaks — built for sustained work sessions, not one-off countdowns.
Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
The timer runs while this tab stays open. Background tabs may be throttled on some devices — keep the tab active for reliable timing during a focus session.

How To Use

Use this free online Pomodoro as your focus and work break timer — structured Focus and break cycles, classic 25/5/15 rhythm, optional task tracking, ambient focus sounds, and no account required.

  1. Click Start to begin a Focus phase. When the timer reaches zero, the UI switches to the next phase, a short alarm plays once, and the countdown shows that phase's full duration.
  2. If Auto Start Breaks or Auto Start Pomodoros is enabled in settings, the next phase countdown begins automatically after the alarm. Otherwise, click Start when you are ready to begin counting down.
  3. After every four completed Focus phases, take a Long Break. The round counter resets when the Long Break begins.
  4. Add tasks with Pomodoro estimates and select one Active Task to track progress through your day.
  5. Open Settings (gear icon in the top navigation) to pick a phase-end alarm and optional background audio during Focus only.

Keyboard shortcuts

SpaceStart / Pause the current phase (or begin the next phase after a phase-end alarm)
SSkip the current phase (while running only)
MMute / unmute Focus background sound (Focus only, when a track is selected)
NFocus the Add-task input

Keyboard shortcuts are disabled while the settings dialog or switch-task prompt is open, or when you are typing in an input field.

Tips

  • Skip during Focus counts as a completed Pomodoro — it increments your round counter and task progress, then moves you to the next break. Use it when you are ready to stop focusing, even if time remains.
  • Classic Pomodoro practice is to use any remaining Focus time to review your work before moving on. Skip only when you are genuinely done with the session.
  • During a break, Skip moves you to the next Focus without changing your round counter. Use it when you are ready to return early.
  • When a phase ends without Auto Start, the UI already shows the next phase at full duration while the alarm plays. Click Start at any time during or after the alarm to begin counting down.
  • Enable Auto Check Task in settings to mark a task complete automatically when its Pomodoro estimate is fully consumed.
  • Customize Focus, Short Break, and Long Break durations in Pomodoro settings. Preferences are saved in your browser for next time.
  • The task list summary Finish At time assumes each break runs for its full configured duration. If Auto Start Breaks is off and you pause between phases, your actual finish time may be later.
  • Use fullscreen mode for a desk-side focus display, or share the page link to bookmark your timing setup.
